Healthy “Movie Night” Treat – Low Fat, High Protein Nachos!

One of my favorite things to do on a Friday or Saturday night is to kick back, relax, and watch a movie.

The only problem with this is that I very often get the munchies and crave a tasty snack that I can enjoy during the movie.

(And just to let you know I get those movie munchies 100% naturally, I don’t smoke weed & get the munchies LOL)

In my opinion, one of the best movie night treats are Nacho’s!

However, I have my own special way of making them that actually makes them a healthy, low fat, high protein muscle building meal. Just watch the video below to learn…

Watch The Video Below To See
Lee’s Secret Bodybuilder Nacho Recipe!

Note: if you are using an ipad or can’t see the embedded video above,
you can watch the video right on my YouTube channel by Clicking Here

To make these you’ll need the following things:
– low fat baked chips
– lean ground meat (i.e. ground beef, ground chicken, ground turkey, etc.)
– low fat chicken bacon or turkey bacon
– veggies (i.e. mushroom, onions, peppers, olives, etc.)
– fat free cheese slices

You can watch the video above for full directions. But basically all you have to do is cook the meat, chop the veggies, and then lay the chips out on a baking sheet. Top the chips with the meat, veggies, and fat free cheese slices. Heat in the oven at 300 degrees for 10 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the chips are nice a toasty.

Give it a try and then leave me a comment below letting me know how you like them.

After you try these nacho’s you’ll be calling me “Nacho LEE-bre” 😉

That’s me being a Jack Ass while on vacation down in Mexico 😉

    Lee,
I remember you posting this video a while back, I used it as inspiration to make my own shredded bbq chicken nachos. I cooked chicken in my slow cooker all day and used a dry bbq seasoning with a bit of homemade bbq sauce. Then used the baked chips, jalapenos, white and green onions, some green chiles, and low fat cheese, probably a little too much sodium but they were great and I got the base idea from your video

  • Only a Newfie would boil ground beef… 🙂

Those do look kinda tasty though. How’s it goin’ Lee?

    Cheers,
    Adam

That sounds delicious. I don’t have a slow cooker myself, but I think I may get one. Do you have any recommendations on which kind to get?

Adam, while the ground beef is boiling, you can simultaneously be boiling the kettle for a spot of tea 😉

    leehayward,

    Lee,
I just have a pretty standard Rival brand crock pot/slow cooker. Just make sure it has a decent size pot so that you can put a good 4-6 pounds of chicken breast in there. If thawed throw them in with about a half cup of water and some spices, set it to high and 6 or so hours later it’ll shred with a fork and be great for pasta or sandwiches all week, ff frozen just add an hour and place the spices in then. It super easy bulk cooking and very versatile, works great with pork too, especially since it makes skimming the fat super easy

Looks very delicious but what is wrong with you people when it comes to hygiene it is lacking i notice it on most of these cook shows and you draw it to my attention. When you took the beef out of the wrapper you just put it into the pot and boiled it without even washing the meat, you see it must be a co cation thing but where we come from the meat has got to be washed first and then you cook it or boil it what ever you want to do with, yes you can argue that boiling kills the bacteria but to wash your meat is allot better, that is one of the reasons why i never eat out or have take always unless it is done @ west Indians shops. I will definitely give it a try but I will wash the beef first.

The beef was boiled, then the water and fat were drained off and rinsed in a strainer (I did cut the footage of me straining and rinsing the beef out to save video time, but I did explain it if you listen to the video). Then the beef was put back into the pan and fried up with spices.

So to answer your question, the beef was boiled, rinsed, than fried. I think you can agree that there is virtually no risk of any harmful bacteria or germs surviving that kind of preparation.

  • Great post and video. I prepared your protein nachos yesterday and it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. Thank you for sharing :-)ah and please come up with more of delicious recipes like this one.

    Lee,

Just so you know. Weed is ALL NATURAL too!. lol Just sayin. 😉

I was wondering how long it takes to prepare the ground beef when you boil it compared to just frying it? As a young teen, I really got into cooking just because I really like to eat… lol. Way back then I was taught to slow cook your ground beef since slow cooking would remove more grease/fat than fast cooking it. So, slow cooking takes me about 5 minutes longer than fast but it does remove LOTS more grease/fat than fast cooking (did a comparison one day many years ago but don’t have actual numbers right now to back up my statement). After cooking I dump the meat into a strainer and let the junk drain off for 3-5 minutes. Pressing it with a potato masher helps to drain it even more. Anyway, was just curious about the timing difference for boiling. Maybe one day I’ll do a comparison test between fast cooking, slow cooking, and boiling and post the results here somewhere.

nacho’s are made with GMO corn dude, how is that healthy, “what” do you have against beef fat, ever heard of ALA. real cheese please, not the processed stuff. Looks like your putting on weight dude, now I know why. This is not good food, save it for a “cheat day”. Very unhealthy treat.

  • Colin

Whats the carb content of this? Arent those chips the worst type of carb to be eating, especially at night?

Looks nice though – not really much different to a standard nacho though?

It’s not that much difference time wise, you can actually put the meat in the wok and start frying it. Then as it starts to cook add in some water to cover the meat and free up some extra fat that you can then strain away.

The nutritional value for the chips will be outlined on the bag and will depend on how much you eat. The main difference in this meal isn’t the carb intake, but the fat intake. This version here is a lot leaner than regular nachos. (i.e. low fat chips, low fat meat, fat free cheese, fat free toppings, etc.).

Great recipe Lee,Lovely Nachos buddy 🙂
