Do you take “Before” and “After” pictures?

I’m a big believer of taking progress pictures of yourself on a regular basis whenever you undertake a “Physique Transformation”.

Regardless of what your goal is…
Be it getting six pack abs for a beach vacation, or to look your best so you can take your shirt off at the pool parties this summer, or getting in shape for a wedding, or maybe you want to take it all the way and step on the bodybuilding contest stage. Whatever it is your are training for, you need to have visual feedback of your progress along the way.

Bottom line, taking progress pics will let you know if what you are doing is working or not, the camera doesn’t lie!

It also breaks down your big physique transformation goal into several little stepping stone goals. For example, each time you take progress pics you want to look better then your previous set of pics. And if you keep doing that week, after week, after week… Before you know it you’ll be a totally different person physique wise.

Just to show you how dramatic this process actually is, just take a look at my pics below…

Lee Hayward's Before & After Physique Transformation!

The first one was taken on December 14, 2009 when I was just 2 weeks into my pre-contest diet for the 2010 Atlantic Canadian Bodybuilding Championships. The second pic was taken March 14, 2010. Exactly 3 months later, as you can see there is a HUGE difference! And the cool thing is I still have another month of dieting to tighten up even more before my contest!

So when you undertake your own Physique Transformation I hope you’ll take my advice and track your progress with pictures along the way.

Pretty much night and day…nice transformation Lee. Yep, I keep a training log, take pictures and take measurements. If I didn’t what’s the point, right?

Unbelievable man, I can’t believe you still have 5 weeks left! You’re gonna be in the best shape of your life by the time the competiton is here. Great job Lee! BTW, how’s your back coming?

  • I’ve got more pics posted on my Facebook Fan Page at:

The crazy thing is that I’m approx. 220 lbs. in the before pic, and 198 lbs. in the after pic. But by looking at the pics you’d think the complete opposite, because the leaner you are, the bigger and more muscular you look.

Good stuff Sheldon, glad to hear you like the Anabolic Cooking program. I have to tip my hat to Dave for creating such a kick-ass nutritional system. He really did his homework on this one!

I’ve never seen anyone put so much time and effort into a single project like this before. The guy literally would spend 12 hour days sitting in front of the computer working on this program. He would stop only to eat an Anabolicious Meal and hit the gym LOL

The fact that you can go out and actually get your hands on this entire system for just $37 bucks is a joke…

If you were to hire someone to actually teach you this (provided they even knew all of the killer nutrition tips and tricks contained here) it would cost you several thousand $$$ just for their time alone!

Thanks Sheldon, glad you like the book! I’ve worked a LOT on this project, and getting good feedback is the best reward I can get! 🙂

    Thanks bro!

Yep, you know how hard I worked on this one… long days and long nights in front of the computer… and not counting the 4 years of testing, experimenting, cooking, etc before that …

And thanks for being my guinea pig for all these months Lee! 🙂

    Hey Lee,

You look awesome man, really vascular and dense!
I’m preparing for my first show and having some trouble finding a happy medium for the amount of cardio that will enable me to loose a good amount of fat as well as spare as much muscle as possible.
I’m currently doing two low intensity cardio sessions a day for 30 mins. By low I mean 3 speed and 2 incline on the treadmill and aiming for a heart rate of between 115-125 bpm.
My morning cardio sessions are prior to eating breakfast and all I have is 10 grams of BCAA before starting.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should focus on in order to maintain muscle and density?

  • Adam

i would have liked to see the same pose in the same lighting but none the less amazing transformation!

  • R

Awesome man… you will make the competition sweat!

  • Hi, I am working out at the gym about 1 year now. I used to weight at 195lbs and now I weight at 175lbs it is my idea weight? I still have that flabby belly how can I get my belly flat and have a great looking abs? But my muscle on my shoulders are big size 18 inches is that good? Please give me tips on how I can improve my body to have that frat muscles? Thanks.

  • moe

Wow Lee, it looks like you didn’t even lose any size at all. What a beast.

  • andy

How bout a before and after comparison of the same pose???

  • TinyTim

I have a video recording a friend did for me while I was competing at a bodybuilding show. It is great to see my strengths and weaknesses especially in comparison with the competition. Like you said the camera doesn’t lie. There is no better way to see yourself than from the perspective of another person which is how I see it when I look at pictures or live video.
Hey Lee lookin good; too bad you have to diet so long to look the way you do. When all is said and done you will have been dieting for a 1/3 of a whole year! That takes alot of sacrifice, time, determination and consistency. I have never dieted that long for a show but you have to do what you have to do and getting freakin shredded is sure to get you to stand out. Keep up the good work and bring home the overall trophy.

  • IRON FREAK

There’s no stopping now! you’ll make it to the top!

  • sure, you look more better, but the photos are not the same to really compare
