    Hey Lee,

Firstly, thanks a lot for all your tips and help and everything, it’s been really, really beneficial.

Well my main concern about losing fat is really about losing the hard-earned muscle as well. I’ve been bulking up for the past 8 months, and have gained 20kgs of muscle mass in the process. I still haven’t reached my goal yet, but I can’t stand my excess fat anymore and I really want to start cutting it down. At the same time, I don’t want to lose my hard-earned muscle as well. Or at least lose as little as possible. How do I go about this, and how should my diet be like?

Thanks again Lee, take care 🙂

Oh and sorry Lee, I forgot to add, I’m 17, my body is the skinny-fat type, but I’m not all that obese. I just got some layers of fat at my belly that I need to get rid of. My body fat percentage is approximately around 20%, and I really need to reduce it to between 6-10%. I plan on competiting in a local natural competition early next year. Hope you could help. Cheers bro!

Kris Hall: Lee I have a question to arm day.Should I do my bicep excercises back to back sets or should I switch from bis to triceps at the end of each 3 set excecise? For example 3 sets of standing dumbell hammer curls followed by tricep pull downs. Thanks Lee,  (Quote)

That’s up to you. Just make sure you don’t rest too long, no more than 2 minutes. I only superset (where you do one set of biceps with one set of triceps) when I don’t have the time. Do whatever that makes you comfortable, just make sure your workout is intense.

Hello Lee, I am a big fan of yours ,and I have a question for you . Lately I’ve been trying to bulk up so I gained maybe 5 kgs (sry I Am not from USA so I don’t work with pounds) and with them ..well maybe another 3-4 of fat and I want to get these removed asap.Currently I have 12 % body fat and I want to get near 6 , so that I can improve the looks of my abs.Do you have any advice how can I burst down those last layers covering my abs so I can be in my previous shape..but with some muscle packed up ;p

  • Randy

If I’m already at a status of good muscle mass, how would I go about trimming my abdominal region in order to show my abs? I consume over 1 gram per body pound of protein a day along with 5 days of heavy lifting and hardly any cardio at all. I need some help, I’ve dreamed of abs but never had them, I’ve started to wonder if it’s my genes preventing me from achieving my goal!

  • kashif

hat’s up Lee alright I’ve been trying to get big and ripped so do you have any advice for me for my biceps, abs, legs, and chest. Oh and I forgot I’ m 17

    Hey Lee,

Like you i have set my goal on transforming my body into having a stronger, powerful physique. i have made major strives in doing so, gaining muscle and losing fat. However, it seems that im just an few inches of reaching my goal. Specifically a few inches from seeing my abs. I can feel them i touch and flex them, and somewhat see them when i take of my shirt, but i can’t see them popping out. I have tried cardio 3-5 a week, eating more protein and fiber, but not series change. Any suggestions?

  • Remlix

  • Zubda

    Hey lee,

My biggest frustration is my lower chest my belly and my hips… I want to cut them off… the problem is even If I do workout for getting ripped it dosen’t have any effect, but at the moment I feel pressure on the correct part, that means I am doing exercise correctly… and another thing, tell me some diet which is easy to make so my parents dont get trouble making it.

  • Darren

Hey i jus want to know how to bring in the little fat i carry at the bottom of my stomach, its very stubborn but my abs push through the skin at the top but i mean in uk terms my waist is 38inch and my chest 53inches i need to burn the last bits off finding it very difficult

  • adam

i find my stomach is the most hardest to get flat any sugestions?

  • Jo

I know that Squats and dead lifts are the top of the line exercises to boost GH, Testosterone , and to pack some mass.

But, i can’t lift heavy due to injuries, i have tried doing my reps with lighter weights but with very little rest periods between sets or none.

Ex: 3 minutes of squats superseted with lunges none stop

    OR

5 minutes of Squats with only 15 to 20 secs rest.

Can this be a good alternative to lift heavy weights ? As minutes goes by, the fast twitch muscle fibers kicks in when the weight feels heavier due to the extended time under tension.

Maybe this method is good for the working muscles but less effective to boost the level of GH and testosterone ??? What’ your opinion on this ?

    JO.

What’s up Lee. I am 33 5ft 9in and 150lbs. My problem is, i have lower ab fat syndrome, is what i like to call it. All my fat is around my stomach area. What can i do to get a ripped ab section? I have been working out for several months, and making progress in every area except my abs. I currently do 100 leg lifts on the machine after each workout 4 days a week. Help. Also, what kind of diet should i be on to help remedy this problem. For the most part during the week, i have a banana or some fruit and water for breakfast.

  • Great idea, but will this work over the long run?

  • efe

    Lee and Andy,

I am desperately trying to gain solid muscle mass and bulk up. I have currently gained about 20 1bs, but want about 20 more to be around 215-220lbs. I try and ingest about 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight daily from mostly lean foods tuna, chicken whole wheat, milk, etcc… I have totally cut out cokes, and sweets from my diet, due to the fact that I am obtaining a slight “gut.” I have some of the worst bodybuilding genes ever, and get frustrated because I have 2 work for every single centimeter on my body, but have friends who can work out for a couple months, gain 30 lbs. and bench press as much as me(genetically gifted freaks, wish I was one.)lol! But ne-ways here’s my question: Even though I have cleaned up my diet and am working out harder and doing more cardio, my sligh belly bulge does not change. I hate it, it is utterly disgusting! Is there any way that I can continue bulking and get rid of this lil’ beer belly!(I mean I don’t even drink!lol!) I’ve tried all that I know I workout 3 days a week and have 1 day of cardio, and a day of stretching. My workouts make me look as if I have gone swimming and everything is supersetted, w/ minimal rest! I just love kicking my tail!lol! But this flab is killing me, like I said I have friends w/ washboard abs who don’t even have 2 work at it! I’m always hungry though!lol!(like Arnold!)

Due to my schedule I can not make it to the gym on a daily basis. My question is will I ever get significant muscle gains with only one or two workouts a week?

  • Zaychik

    Happy New Year, Lee !
I’m currently about 2 months into my mass building phase. I thought I was making some good progress because I know I have been gaining consistent strength from week to week (On my major lifts I would be able to add 5 – 10 lbs to the bar, or perform extra rep or 2 on some compound moves). My muscles do look slightly bigger and overall my body does feel fuller. However, I actually haven’t gained much weight in the process (maybe 3, 4 lbs at most). This was making me a bit discouraged, but I’m still sticking to my routine to the end since I’m seeing good strength gains and generally feel better about my body.

Is there any way to explain why my body hasn’t responded to my training in a way of a weight gain ? Should I be concerned or do anything different in my case ?

  • LEO Garcia

what do you suggest for chest workouts??? are the machines better than push-ups??????? and also what do you suggest for getting those big shoulders???

  • AJ

Cardio vs diet I have no trouble with cardio, however I find it hard to eat well and have enough nutrition to match my cardio activities. What small things can I change to help fat loss, and not have to make a live style change.

    Hey Lee and Andy,

My question concerns fat loss and muscle mass. The thing is, how do I avoid my hard-earned muscle being lost while I’m cutting down, or at least, as little as possible?

    Thanks guys, cheers! 🙂

is iy best to give up drinking pop not because of the sugar because of the CO2 that makes you bloated and blocks fat

  • John Perry

Hey Andy and Lee How are you guys doing. I’m doing well. Thought a good topic for you guys to discuss may be staying somewhat lean while building muscle at a fast rate. I find now that the only way I can gain strength and size at this point is if I am consuming a lot of excess calories. I know this is a normal bodybuilding problem. But I find I have a big range of a calorie intake that I will not gain or loose size and strength I have to really bump the calories up to gain even at a very slow pace.
