Killer Trap & Upper Back Workout…

I’ve been getting a lot of video requests for trapezius workouts so last night myself and Patricia went in the gym and filmed some of our favorite exercises for building up the traps and upper back.

Early on in the video we had an interesting “workout blooper”
Now most people would have probably edited this out, but we decided to leave it in for a bit of fun, and it also goes to show that not every exercise is good for every body 😉

    WOW!!!!! Great Blooper!!!! Oooooh Weeee!!!!!!!!!!

  • I’m not complaining about “junk in the trunk”, just saying that it can hinder certain exercises 😉

  • Dan

Your girlfriend has a great ass, we need to see more of it!!! lol On a serious note when you do upright rows are you aiming to pull the bar (or in this case rope) to the middle of your chest, neck or chin? Thanx

  • john

I like that blooper, but theres no junk in that yummy trunk

  • Gary

Trish has a nice toosh , Lee. Does Trish ever talk? It be nice for her to say something once in a while. Good Video. Keep up the good work.

  • Great video Lee, both lookin good! Your face when doing barbell shrugs is hilarious! Check it out!! Seriously, keep up the good work guys.

  • Sean

Okay, where do I begin….Baby Got Back! Gees! Can we see Trish do some bent over BB rows Lee? Did I just say that? LOL

On a serious note, love the idea of using the calf machine for shrugs! Never thought about that one. I also try and keep my chin down while doing all shrugs and make sure I stretch at the bottom on every rep. On the heavy sets, I just try and get the bar up as high as I can. You can also hold it at the top for a couple of seconds, then at the bottom for a couple of seconds towards the end of the workouts.

I don’t like upright rows due to the undue stress on the shoulders so be careful with that one, but I do like the way Lee does them using the rope attachment.

Lee, thanks for this video for multiple reasons! I’m a glute man, so, ummm, thanks! 😉

  • alex

This is my favorite video !!! she has such a rip back, I mean look at those cuts, low body fat ,yet a juicy bottom! Shes my favorite body builder from now on. Sorry lee your # 2 now

  • alex

wait I forgot something big up to Lee, I recall that sean had asked to see her in white tights . There u go.

  • Shaun

Very nice Lee. Have you ever tried dip bar shrugs? I use a dip belt to add extra resistance, it is a killer exercise that’ll make those traps shake big time! The great thing about this one is your grip is not a factor. I recomend anyone give it a try, it may feel awkward the first few times you do it, but keep at it and you’ll enjoy the payoff. Keep those arms straight but your elbows not locked, lower fully and “press” your body back up as far as you can. Good luck!

One thing I’d like to also point out is it’s not just the size of the butt. Due to heavy squats and hockey I also have a large rear but have no trouble with behind the back shrugs. The difference is arms to torso length ratio. My arms hang well below my butt but girls tend to have shorter arms so Trish’s arms hang to butt level so it gets in the way of the range of motion. Keep up the good work!

  • Rudy

thanks Lee for that great video and Trish cute workout blooper …
btw can you post a video workout for the rotator cuff…
    thanks again and more power…

  • Brad

Your gym is always empty. Do you go early in the morning or real late at night?

  • ace

Ya, that usually happens to me in the front , my doctor sais I’ll have to get a wiener reduction if I wanna be able to lift without obstructions…I think Im just gonna go into the movie business…

  • ace

In the mean time I’ll just use it to spot me!!

  • TinyTim

My favorite shrug exercise is to sit on a shoulder press bench and use heavy dumbbells. I prefer sitting over standing because the range of motion feels better and it is a harder exercise.

I also like to sit on the very edge of the bench and with a heavy loaded barbell underneath my legs I will shrug with it underneath my legs. The range of motion is not the same as other exercises but allows you to hit the traps from a different angle.

Just like Sean I also like to keep my chin down while doing all shrugs.

  • Tom

Thats funny because when u first mention the behind the back i thought shit dude i cant do that because my butts to big, it sticks out like truck. Good and bad because u get compliments for it being nice and round but then bad because u cant perform some routines. Nice vid thanx

  • jatin dev

    hi lee,
been a fan and follower of your tactics for long time. nice blooper BTW, but dude look out for Trish, she mite kick your ass someday.
Anyways, i saw Larry Scott mentioning building bigger traps bullies your deltoids growth. IS IT TRUE? how can we make way through both of these developments, what has been your observation ? (awesome technique shown for UPRIGHT ROWS, CHEERS)

  • rian
