Build Big Arms: Hybrid Tricep Extension & Press

If you are looking to pack on some size to your upper arms, then you can’t ignore the triceps!

The triceps make up 2/3’s of the upper arm mass. So when it comes to stretching that tape measure, you need to focus on building up those tris.

In the video clip below you’ll learn a killer tricep mass building exercise called the:

Tricep Extension & Press!

It’s a hybrid move of a tricep extension and an incline dumbbell press. This allows for heavyweights to be lifted and doesn’t place much stress the elbows. This move will make a great addition to your arm workouts to help you pack on solid mass and build bigger more muscular arms!

That looks like a great combination workout, can’t wait to try it tonight. Thanks.

  • Vinny

That’s similar to a move you showed us once before, only it was done laying down on a bench. I believe you said it was a popular among powerlifters? I remember that move was effective and I used it for a couple weeks until the body adapted. This looks like it’ll be good!

  • dre

Lee, you are a big help. Thank you so much!

  • I have used that move u did awhile back but laying down and the burn is awsome i will try this also. Thanks and may i add u are built like a rock.

  • Mike H

I will give this a try this week on arm day. I can no longer to nosebreakers as my elbows can’t take the stress anymore (too many yr’s powerlifting). Keep the good ideas coming!

  • Rudy

eager to try this one for a change.
    thank’s LEE!

  • Coskun Toktamis

    Dear Lee,

    you really look great
    I follow your progress closely
but I cannot be you unfortunately…:=)))
God Bless…good workout ..and when is te competition???

  • IRON FREAK

Awesome! Thanks! How many sets and reps do you recommend on this workout?

  • Joey

Looks good, but why the incline?

  • lee

Looken good Lee!! That movment looks great! i’ll have to try it tomorrow when i do chest, shoulders and tris. Thanx 4 the tips!

  • Awesome! Thanks! How many sets and reps do you recommend on this workout?

I’d work up to doing 4 sets of 10 reps for this one.

  • Looks good, but why the incline?

Just hits the muscles from a different angle. I find the incline rolling db extension places more work on the tris then the flat bench version.

  • Lance King

I have applied your tricep recommendation and love it! It took me a couple of times to really adjust to the movement–when I became comfortable I adopted it into many “Arm-days.”

    Thanks for your help!

    Lance King
    (P.S. You look great!)

  • Balraj

    Dear Lee,
I have always found your exercises a damn success.actually i started gaining my body muscles after i used your techniques,so anything recommended by you is blindly followed by me.it definitely gives me the good results.keep it up boss you surely are doing a great job.

  • salmi

good variation for triceps, and no bad for weak upper back

  • mandeep singh

    ulimate , i will try this ………………………………………….

  • Andy

I’ve only tried this twice so far, but I love it! It feels good and I can do a lot more weight with this exercise as opposed to just straight up dumbbell extensions. Thanks Lee.

  • Interesting movement, i remember you did a video with a similar exercise related to Powerlifting (you emphasized the explosiveness of the movement, and i think it was on a flat bench).

Either way, i’m definately going to give this a try, i think this could make for a great end of workout exercise, or even after my main sets of Close Grip Bench and Dips.

  • Josh:
Great workout, thanks for sharing Lee. How many sets and reps please? Thanks.

    ===================

Start off lighter and do multiple sets and reps to get used to the move and exercise technique. Say around 5 sets of 10-15 reps. But once you are comfortable with it you can incorporate heavier weights and lower reps in the 6-8 rep range for this move.

  • Bill

Thanks Lee, I’ll give this try. I do have elbow problems with high-weight tricep exercises. One that I’ve found which works for me is the seated dip machine. Not all gyms have one, but if your’s does, give it a try.

  • Dave

These should be called “pump jacks”.
