If you are looking to build a wide V-shape muscular back…
Then you should try the Vince Gironda Lat Pull in your next back workout!
Vince Gironda Doing The Low Pulley Lat Pull Variation. He also did a ‘high pulley’ variation of this move, which I demonstrate in the video clip below… |
Vince Gironda is an old time legend and was the outspoken bad boy of old-school bodybuilding!
Gironda is often quoted as saying that bodybuilding is 85% nutrition. In fact, he was what some may call a health food nut. He was also an early proponent of low carb dieting and was the first truly “Ripped Bodybuilder”.
In addition to his nutrition theories, he had what many consider “unorthodox” training ideas. His secret to muscle building success was was in the combination of proper exercises and the strict adherence to proper exercise form.
And one prime example of such an unorthodox exercise is the Gironda Lat Pull…
This move helps build maximum back width and V-taper from the combination of a
full stretch and a strong peak contraction of the lats with very strict form.
Just click PLAY to watch the video clip below to see how it’s done…

Hey lee, thanks for this great technique, i think you should do a video about the rotator cuff muscles strenghtening,(sorry if i mispelled im frensh) because i know a lot of bodybuilders get injured because they simply dont train those small muscles…

Hey Lee, thanks for yet another great video. In my gym, the pulley is not adjustable. We have a high and a low pulley but nothing in between. Can i do this excercise from the high pulley with the same effect ?

Remi Gionet,

Thanks Lee!
I exercise at home and don’t have a pulley set. Soooo, will using resistance bands set at the top of the door provide a benefit? Also, will setting it at the bottom of the door to do Vince’s 45 degree lat pull provide a benefit?
Thanks.
Todd

Awesome book Lee, awesome advice as always.
It’s good to see old school bodybuilding still has its place in today’s hightech gyms. Gironda was definitely a legend ahead of his time.
I purchased his book last year and found that I couldn’t put it down either. After hitting the weights for the last 20 years, I thought I knew it all till following Gironda’s training techniques literally brought me down to my knees. Training for feel made a huge difference in my natural gains. Definitely worth getting.
