Deadlift Workout for a BIGGER Back

In this blog post you’re going to get a Deadlift workout routine that will help add size and thickness to your back.

If you are looking to build your strength, power, and fill out your T-shirt with muscle, then give this deadlift / back routine a try for yourself and leave me a comment below letting me know how it works for you.

Hey there, it’s your muscle building coach Lee Hayward, back in the basement with another muscle building workout 😉

Today you’re going to get a simple, yet very effective back workout that will add width and thickness to the lats, traps, and spinal erectors.

This is the complete deadlift / back workout:
– Deadlifts – sets of 5 reps, pyramiding up in weight for each set.
– Shrugs – 3 sets of 10 reps.
– Pull Ups / Chin Ups – between each exercise do a set of pull ups. Shoot for at least 5 sets of 5+ reps over the workout.
– Rubber Band Good Morning – 3-4 sets of 20+ reps.

*Start each exercise with as many lighter warm up sets as you feel you need in order to work up to your top working weight.

**Rest at least 3 minutes between sets for the deadlifts to allow for maximum weight to be lifted. For the other exercises rest 1-2 minutes between sets.

Hey, how essential is the belt for Deadlifting? I never used it but I am starting to Deadlift some serious weight and don’t want any injuries.

  • Rob,

Wearing a good belt with heavy deadlifts makes a huge difference. You’ll feel stronger and more solid with the belt. It would be a good investment.

  • Hey great article, very interesting to read. I have a similar article about building a bigger back on my blog here:http://train4gains.co.uk/training/building-bigger-back-part-2/

Thanks for all the videos and great products. I purchased your original DVD set back in 2009. Your instruction is always clear and the content always worthwhile. As far as the cry babies whining about your basement, let’s see their videos!
